Demondre Dontrel Brown, 37

Demondre Brown, a 37-year-old black man, was fatally shot Saturday, April 21, near Peach Street and Oleander Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Brown was sitting in a car about 9:30 p.m. when an unknown person walked up and shot him, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called and the victim was taken to a hospital in Lynwood where he was pronounced dead at 9:49 p.m.

Coroner's records show Brown died from a gunshot wound to the neck.
