Deshan Lamar Washington, 43

Deshan Lamar Washington, a 43-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Friday, July 3, in the 2100 block of East 115th Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Washington was in a parking lot with about 50 other people inside the Imperial Courts public housing development about 1:20 a.m., when he and several others got into a dispute with another group, said Los Angeles police Det. Nathan Kouri.

A person in the other group pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking Washington. The gunman then ran west on East 115th Street. 

Washington was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives are trying to determine the identity of the shooter and the reason for the dispute.
