A story for every victim

Deshawn Zoloranzo, 2

Deshawn Zoloranzo, a 2-year-old toddler, died Saturday, Oct. 29, after sustaining trauma in the 38200 block of 5th Street East in Palmdale, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The child’s mother, Jennifer Zoloranzo, and her boyfriend, Joe Hickman, took the boy to the hospital for treatment of head injuries that she said occurred when the child slipped in the bathtub.

Deshawn was pronounced dead on arrival.

Zoloranzo and Hickman were then arrested on suspicion of murder.

According to a statement from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, the child had several bruises and burns that were inconsistent with Zoloranzo's story.

When questioned by investigators, Zoloranzo, 19, and Hickman, 21, allegedly admitted to beating the child, sheriff's officials said.

Anyone with additional details about the child death is asked to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Tipsters who'd like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800) 222-8477.
