Deshon Lamont Rasberry, 19

Deshon Rasberry, a 19-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 27, in the 2100 block of East 102nd Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Rasberry was standing with about 20 people in the Jordan Downs housing project about 8:45 p.m. when a person fired several shots at him.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later, police said.

The shooter was described as a black male. The incident is believed to be gang-related.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact LAPD criminal gang homicide Det. Sal LaBarbera at (213) 485-4341. Tipsters who'd like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

I'll have to agree wit u on this one.. This kid was in the project's when he was gunned down.. He was a gang member I knew him..

The sad part is when people kill someone they kill a whole family. He was sombody's Son,Brother,Nephew,Cuzo,Homie.. And from what I hear he had a baby damn..

What type of life must he have lived being in the damn projects banging and doing nothing..

I'm glad in my day we had Big Mama's Uncle's & noisy snitching azz neighbors.. My generation had respect for human life it's not like that nowadays..

I'm not bad mouthing no one but he did have a baby as young as he was im wondering what kind of parents he had to be letting him have a baby and running around gang banging?

This is a tragedy, well at least he's in a better place now no more chaos and melee in his life or looking over his shoulder.. My prayers go out to the Fam..

Because that is usually the case Rhonda. The majority of killings on this site is due to gangs, whether it be active affiliation or just association. The majority of these homicides take place in drug and gang infested areas. Yes, people who have nothing to do with any of this lifestyle get killed, but in this case, not so. This blog is meant for expression, some things can and will be taken to heart on a positive and negative note. If you attend his funeral tomorrow then you will see for yourself. Gang life for some is all these people know. I feel for all of the Deshon's past, present and future. He was birthed into a lifestyle filled with drugs, gangs and violent behavior. The end result is jail or death. When will the cycle end? Everyone connected to this homicide victims seem to hurt, but yet the lifestyle for many NEVER changes, you will grieve for the moment than back to common behavior. So until these black and latinos wake up and realize that there is no future in this game, this is what you will constantly read. So to get in a huff about what he was or wasn't. That's not the issue, scroll all of the deaths on this site, it's just sad.
