A story for every victim

Devin Isaiah Luna, 23

Devin Isaiah Luna, a 23-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Thursday, Dec. 6, in the 900 block of South Sunol Drive in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

People heading to work around 7 a.m. noticed Luna slumped over in the driver's seat of his car, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred.

When paramedics arrived, they discovered that Luna had been shot multiple times, Alfred said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:21 a.m., according to coroner's records.

It wasn't clear if Luna was shot inside his car, or if he got inside after the shooting, Alfred said. First responders noticed that one of the car doors was open when they arrived, but investigators got conflicting reports about which one.

Luna was born in East Los Angeles and lived in Commerce, according to a brief biography he posted online six years earlier, with a sexually graphic rap song called "Red Cups" that he wrote, produced and performed.

"im 17 years old, also known as Isaiah, i been rapping since i was a little child and i perform for my family and friends at local parties," Luna wrote. "My New single Red cups is something special for the ladies, its only a matter of time before i hit nationwide. Im the Next Superstar Rapper!!"

No other songs were posted on the site.

Alfred said investigators believe the shooters could have been gang members, but they don't have any witnesses to the shooting or information about suspects.
