Dimas Penaloa Quiroz, 26

Dimas Penaloa Quiroz, a 28-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, July 21, in the 1200 block of Molina Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner records. 

Long Beach Police officers were called to the neighborhood of apartments and homes around 2 a.m. regarding a man with a gunshot wound to his upper torso, according to a department news release. 

The man later identified as Quiroz, a resident of Long Beach, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:03 a.m., according to coroner's records. 

Investigators learned that Quiroz got into an argument with at least one other man, which led to the shooting, according to the release. The shooter reportedly fled on foot.

The motive of the shooting is not known, according to the release, but investigators believe it may be gang related.
