Dina Rebecca Enriquez, 24

Dina Rebecca Enriquez, a 24-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Friday, March 10, in the 3100 block of Kenwood Avenue in Adams-Normandie, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Enriquez got into an argument with her longtime partner, who pulled out a gun and shot her in an apartment bedroom shortly before 3:30 p.m., according to Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido.

The couple’s children, 2 and 6 years old, were in the apartment when their mother was shot, Garrido said.

Enriquez was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:38 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police at the scene arrested Steven Alexis Vargas, a 26-year-old Latino, on suspicion of murder.

Vargas was charged March 14 with one count of murder, two counts of child abuse, one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, according to the Los Angeles County District attorney’s office.

An arraignment has been continued to April 12, according to the district attorney’s office.
