Dominic Ladon Gooden, 42

Dominic Ladon Gooden, a 42-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, July 28, in the 1300 block of West 69th Street in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

At 2:40 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Division responded to a call of a shooting in the area, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

When officers arrived, they found Gooden lying on the ground in the street next to a black Dodge Challenger, police said.

Gooden was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives believe that Gooden was standing in the street talking to at least one other person when a light-colored sedan drove by. Two people got out of the car and shot at Gooden, who collapsed in the street.

The gunmen ran back to the light-colored sedan.
