Earnest Clifton Hodge, 52

Earnest Clifton Hodge, a 52-year-old black man, was fatally shot Tuesday, March 29, in the 10600 block of Figueroa Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:45 p.m., Hodge was walking south on South Figueroa with a woman when a black sedan driving the same direction pulled up next to him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido. A person began shooting from inside the vehicle, then fled.

Hodge was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:02 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The woman was not injured.

The suspect is believed to be a black man in his 30s, Garrido said.
