Eddie Banks Jr., 42
Eddie Banks Jr., a 42-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, May 1, hours after he was shot in the 1800 block of East 1st Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Banks and his girlfriend were standing on the sidewalk April 30 about 11:45 p.m. when an unknown person walked up and opened fire on the couple, according to an LAPD news release.
Authorities responded to the shooting and the pair were taken to the hospital for treatment. Banks died a short time later, officials said; the woman was later released.
Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related.
