Edgar Moreira, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot several times in his home in the 8900 block of Wilbur Avenue in Northridge on Thursday, March 26, 2009, according to Los Angeles police.

Police found Moreira dead about 7 a.m. They began looking for Jose Jesus Delgado, a 31-year-old Latino, in connection with the homicide. About 12:30 p.m. that day, police responded to a call reporting vandalism in the 8300 block of Winnetka Avenue.

They discovered Delgado, who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and was banging his head against walls and windows of businesses at the location, according to an LAPD news release.

"Delgado was taken to a local hospital for self-inflicted head wounds where he remains in critical condition. He was arrested and absentee booked for murder. His bail was set at $1,000,000," according to the March 27 news release.

He was my cousin my mom raised him or at least tried, his mom passed due to cancer. He was very young when she passed, his dad was alcoholic, at the time gangs were home and a place to be. Sadly. He tried many times bettering his life and getting out. He moved out of state because of it too. He was a good person, a father, brother, and a funny happy soul to be around. He cared so much about his family. I miss him so dearly. I always wonder how it would be to still have him here. He was a big brother to me. I love you E.M. RIP 😔❤️ And for those of you saying he sold drugs and what not. Stop making speculations. And yes taxpayers pay what you have to. Don’t want that criminal causing another mayhem to another family. This is sad. I’m now 22 and understand a lot more and I’m able to voice my opinion on things so here it is.
