Eduardo Lopez, 35

Eduardo Lopez, a 35-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Aug. 13 near Alameda and East Pine streets in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Lopez was walking down the street about 2:50 a.m. when a black pickup pulled up next to him and a person got out and opened fire, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Steve Jauch.

Deputies found Lopez lying in the street near the railroad tracks, Jauch said. He was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The truck drove south on Alameda, Jauch said. There was no other suspect information.

Jauch said investigators don’t know what Lopez was doing out at that time, or where he was headed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
