Edward Carr, 17
Edward Carr, a 17-year-old black male, was shot and killed Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the 14600 block of South Atlantic Ave. in Compton.
Carr was taken to St. Francis Medical Center where he was determined to be brain dead later that day. He was taken off life support and pronounced dead Oct. 3.
Det. Howard Cooper of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau said Carr was walking home from school about 5 p.m. when he was approached by at least two Latino males. Carr was shot once in the head, according to the coroner's report.
Cooper said Carr was not robbed and it was unclear if he saw his assailants approaching. The two males fled after the shooting.
School officials said Carr had attended Dominguez High School until January, when he transferred to Lifeline Charter School in Compton.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
