Edward Melgar, 28

Edward Melgar, a 28-year-old Latino, was stabbed to death Tuesday, March 20, in the 4500 block of Griffin Avenue in Montecito Heights, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD Hollenbeck homicide Det. S. Carrillo, who is handling the case, said Melgar's father summoned police about the stabbing.

Authorities arrived and the victim was taken to L.A. County/USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Carrillo said.

Coroner’s records show the victim was stabbed in the chest.

There have been no arrests made in connection with the case, and investigators do not have a description of the assailant.

The motive for the killing remains unclear.
