Ellis Taiwan Spillman, 42

Ellis Taiwan Spillman, a 42-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Thursday, June 28, 2018, in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

Shortly before 10 p.m. officers from the Long Beach Police Department were called to the area regarding a shooting, according to a news release from the department.

Officers arrived and found Spillman with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Spillman was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police said at the time that Spillman was inside a home when a person confronted him and shot him.
