Elvin Arturo Hernandez, 20

The body of Elvin Hernandez, a 20-year-old Latino, was found Monday, June 12, near mile marker 20.72 on the Angeles Forest Highway, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Workers spotted Hernandez's body lying on the ground  near the highway shortly after noon, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Joe Mendoza. It was in an undeveloped area, about four miles south of State Route 14, he said.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:38 p.m., according to coroner's records. His body "was in a state of decomposition," Mendoza said. The cause of death has been deferred pending further investigation, according to coroner's records.

Investigators believe Hernandez was killed somewhere else and his body was dumped at the location, but they don't know how long he had been dead, Mendoza said.

Hernandez's last residence was in East Hollywood, according to coroner's records.
