Emilio Landaverde Jr., 20

Emilio Landaverde Jr., a 20-year-old Latino, was shot to death Tuesday, May 25, near the 500 block of Zanja Street in Pasadena, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

Landaverde and an acquaintance were on the street about 11:30 p.m. when an unknown assailant shot at them, said Lt. Tracey Ibarra.

Both injured, the acquaintance drove himself and Landaverde to a local hospital where he died from complications from a gunshot wound to the head. The acquaintance suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Ibarra said.

There was no indication that either of the shooting victims were gang members, Ibarra said.

Pending the ongoing investigation, Ibarra was unable to release information about the motive for the shooting or a description of the assailant.
