Emmanuel Berry, 17

Emmanuel Berry, a 17-year-old Latino, died Saturday, June 18, in the 10600 block of Grape Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., Berry and Angelica Escalante, a 19-year-old Latina, were killed in a drive-by shooting, LAPD Officer Karen Rayner said. Both had been standing in a driveway when the shooting occurred.

The two victims were taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, Rayner said. Police found multiple shell casings on the scene but did not have information on the car or the shooters.

Anyone with information about the slaying or the identity of the shooter is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

Know that you're always in our prayers<3 who knows why your life was taken, but look at it this way, at least you won't have to suffer in this world anymore.. and for the person who made the comment about the family looking gang-related, should it really matter how a person looks? It doesn't define who they are on the inside, or the outside. That's a stereotype, anyone can have tatoos and live in Watts, but that doesn't mean they're 'ghetto', in other words. Please have the decency to focus on the bigger picture of this article.. The family just had a loss, and all you're doing is judging them by their appearance.
