Emmanuel Vargas, 29
Emmanuel Vargas, a 29-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Thursday, June 7, in the 400 block of South Boyle Avenue in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Officers responded to a call regarding a shooting about 3:20 p.m., according to an LAPD news release.
When authorities arrived, they discovered Vargas on the street with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives learned Vargas and a friend were waiting for another person in front of an apartment when a person with a gun walked up and opened fire.
Officials said the killing appears to be gang-related.
