Enrico Willingham, 38

Enrico Willingham, a 38-year-old black man, was fatally shot Monday, Oct. 11, in the 10900 block of South Figueroa in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police received a 911 call reporting shots fired about 8:50 p.m., said Det. Scott Smith, who works with the LAPD criminal-gang and homicide unit.

When authorities arrived, they found Willingham on the corner suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken by paramedics to a hospital where he later died, Smith said.

At this time, investigators have not made any arrests in connection with the case and do not have a description of the shooter.

Willingham was a documented gang member, Smith said, and the shooting is believed to be gang-related.
