Police looking to identify cars involved in fatal shooting of grandfather

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department released surveillance footage Thursday in hopes that the public can identify two vehicles involved in the fatal shooting of a 57-year-old grandfather last month.

About 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, Eric Guillory was playing a game at a picnic table in the Rancho San Pedro housing development near West 2nd and South Centre streets when multiple vehicles pulled up.

A person opened fire, and Guillory was struck once.

Police were able to obtain video from the area that shows two vehicles — a black sedan and a gray four-door sedan — traveling together. The cars turned south on Palos Verdes Street from West 1st Street moments before the shooting.

The black sedan appears to have been following the gray sedan.

LAPD Det. Matt Maffei said the two vehicles don’t have distinct features. He hopes someone saw the vehicles in the area or elsewhere.

“Maybe someone will see it and say, ‘Hey my neighbor has two cars like that,’” he said.

@mojo...everyone in those projects know who did it already..They went over there drove around a few blocks looking for the gang from that neighborhood and when they couldn't find them they seen this man and shot him instead it has happened many times before a innocent bystander gets hurt or loses his or her life over some cowards that's what I am against..now if there was someone out there from that neiborhood gang and they got shot..Then fair game..Tell you what all you have to do is go to there rivals hood and look for those cars these females be buying these new cars for these dudes or letting them use theirs..burning there cars..they not going to get rid of them so...check it out..they crash unit down there keep track of the cars the active gang members have so I'm more then sure they know who it is ..Harbor division has alot of informants down there so like I said it's already established who it was..True story ...When I got shot I didn't even know who did it..and I didn't tell the cops the kind of car it was..they told me everything I needed to know like 30 mins after..trust me most people think the police either don't care or don't know..It's not even like that they know way more then what they should know...it just takes alot of time and resources to investigate certain things..and it's alot going on..it was probably a snitch in one of them cars that night..I'm just saying..

They came prepared..This looks like a job that was planned I can tell they was ready for a confrontation by coming in 2 cars they came from a distance too just in case something happens they had a back up car..maybe with more guns.The thing is people get these nice cars and put in work and do dirt with them and still think it's ok ...Waste of money cause you just burnt yourself..if they know your car you have a Target people are hunting for you now..Well rest in peace to this man..57 years old not a gang member playing a chess game ..not hurting no one minding his own business.They came looking for gang members ready for a confrontation but it seems like the cowards was hiding and he caught the bullet...while the scapegoats are with their families....makes me sick..
