Eric Lamar Holloway, 27

Eric Lamar Holloway, a 27-year-old black man, was fatally shot Monday, Aug. 7, near Maple Avenue and Catalina Avenue in Pasadena, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 3:30 a.m., Pasadena police responded to a call regarding shots in the area and a man lying in the street bleeding, according to a news release. Upon arriving, officers found Holloway suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a hospital, where he died at 5:31 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Later that night, about 9 p.m., officers arrested Deleon Malik Jackson, 22, on suspicion of murder. Police said the men knew each other, but a motive for the shooting was unclear. 

Prosecutors charged Jackson on Aug. 10 with one count of murder. He is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 24 for a preliminary hearing.
