Eric Redd, a 36-year-old black man, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, two and a half years after he was shot in the 900 block of West 97th Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Redd was shot in the neck on July 31, 2008. After the shooting, he became a quadriplegic.

On Feb. 1, Redd died as a result from his injury at the Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Inglewood, Winter said. Coroner’s records did not show how long the victim had been in the hospital.
