Deyvi Herrera, 32 [Updated]

Deyvi Herrera, a 32-year-old Latina, was shot Friday, April 2, in the 4900 block of 117th Street in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Updated April 12, 2010, at 2 p.m.: Herrera was initially identified by coroner's officials as Ester Hernandez. Detective Adan Torres of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau said Hernandez was one of Herrera's aliases.]

Herrera's shooting was traced by detectives to a call that came in about 5 p.m. on April 2 reporting gunfire and a person fleeing an alley in the 4900 block of 117th Street. When officers arrived they found no victims.

Authorities later learned that two people had been shot in the incident, Herrera and a minor, said Torres. The youth was treated at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Herrera had been taken to Centinela Hospital where she died at 7:55 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Investigators do not have any suspects at this time. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
