Fely Banaban Ramirez, a 66-year-old Asian female, was found shot to death Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, in the 900 block of East Joel Street in Carson, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Carson station responded to a home and found Ramirez, who had “at least one” gunshot wound, according to a news release from the department.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives said that the woman’s husband, Benjamin Ramirez, a Latino who was 68 at the time of the crime, had been seen at the location around the time that the crime had occurred.  He was last seen driving away from the location in a 2010 silver Honda Accord sedan.

Benjamin Ramirez was charged with one count of murder with the allegation that he used a handgun.

Prosecutors said that the man killed his wife of more than 40 years after she served him with divorce papers.
