A story for every victim

Francisco Ruiz Morones, 60

Francisco Ruiz Morones, a 60-year-old Latino, died Monday, Jan. 28, after he was assaulted days earlier in the 2800 block of Lancaster Avenue in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

About 3:30 p.m. Jan. 24, Morones was found unconscious on a sidewalk, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez.

Morones was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead four days later. Initially it was unclear whether foul play was possible, Ramirez said.

An autopsy and toxicology tests revealed that Morones was not suffering from a medical emergency but had suffered blunt force trauma to his head, police said.

Investigators declined to say what may have happened to Morones, citing the ongoing investigation.
