Frankie Garcia, a 20-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Sunday, Dec. 18, in the 8800 block of Villa Drive in Whittier, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Authorities responded to a 911 call at 1:17 a.m. and found the victim shot and lying on the ground. Garcia was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead about 5 a.m.

According to coroner’s records, Garcia died of multiple gunshot wounds.

“At this time, we’re calling it gang-related,” said Whittier police Lt. Ellis Bryan. There were witnesses, and investigators are pursuing several leads, he said. No arrests have been made.

Officials did not provide any additional information about the case.

@ Jerry...u can't blame politicians and L.A county supervisors for these kids behaviors....remember the citizens vote in laws as well as the politicians....u voted in taking away corporal punishment in the home....the same ones that complains also make excuses whenever the police step in and take action....this country not just L.A county is confused on what they want...stronger law or therapeutic handling?...it changes with the person and the case...however if we let parents raise their children not abuse them then u will see more children respecting authority...for those of you that allow ur children to run ur home shame on you....there's a difference between beating and punishing...take control or stop complaining when ur child or family member is on the other end of long jail terms or death because of their involvement or affiliation with negative influences...
