Fred Anthony Aguirre Jr., 23

Fred Anthony Aguirre Jr., a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Dec. 17, in the 400 block of North Rebecca Street in Pomona, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Aguirre was approached by a gunman about 6 p.m. and shot, said Ed Winter, a spokesman with the coroner’s office.

Aguirre was pronounced dead at 6:22 p.m. at the scene, Winter said. An autopsy showed that Aguirre died of a gunshot wound.

Aguirre was specifically targeted, Pomona police Sgt. Patrick O’Malley said in a news release. The shooting was the second in Pomona in two hours.

About 4 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot near South Gibbs and East 7th streets, less than half a mile from the Police Department.

The man was in stable condition.

On Nov. 20, Aguirre was also targeted in a separate shooting that left a 14-year-old girl wounded. The girl has since been released from the hospital.
