Freddy Jesus Rosas, 21

Freddy Jesus Rosas, a 21-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Friday, May 24, in the 14100 block of Mulberry Drive in Whittier, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner records. 

Rosas was walking about half a mile from his home around 2 a.m. when he was shot, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred. 

He ran about 100 yards down the sidewalk until he collapsed, Alfred said. Residents called 911, and Rosas was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:08 a.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as gunshot wound to his lower right extremity. 

Investigators don't have a motive for the shooting or information about the shooter, Alfred said.
