Freddy Molina, 40
Freddy Molina, a 40-year-old Latino, was found with gunshot wounds Monday, Sept. 21, in the 5300 block of Peck Road in El Monte, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to the residential area about 10:20 p.m. regarding a possible gunshot victim, said Lt. Holly Francisco.
A resident found Molina lying in his frontyard and called for help, Francisco said. Investigators believe he was shot on the sidewalk, near the intersection of Peck Road and the Rio Hondo Parkway, and walked a few steps into the yard before collapsing, she said.
Molina was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:57 p.m., according to coroner's records.
Investigators believe the shooting may be gang related, based on Molina’s background, Francisco said, but they have no suspect information.
Molina lived in Inglewood, so investigators aren’t sure why he was in El Monte. They think he may have been visiting a friend, Francisco said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
