A story for every victim

Frederick Buzzell Jr., 77 [Updated]

Frederick Buzzell Jr., a 77-year-old white man, died Saturday, April 9, two days after he was taken from the 12200 block of Foothill Boulevard in Lake View Terrace, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Buzzell was moved to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills on April 7 and died two days later.

Coroner's records show Buzzell's body had "decubitus ulcers," commonly known as bed sores, and his death may have been the result of elder abuse. However, a cause of death has been deferred and lab test results will not be available for at least six to eight weeks.

[Update Jan. 12, 2012: The death has since been ruled as natural. The coroner's office cited septic shock, as well multiple bacteria organisms as the cause of death.]
