Gabriela Rodas, an 18-year-old Latina woman, was shot during a domestic dispute in the 2000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Boyle Heights about 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23.

Officers from the Hollenbeck Division responded to a report of a suicide at a home. When they arrived, they found Rodas with a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. She was taken to L.A. County-USC Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Police detained the girl's Latino boyfriend, Moises Enrique Martinez, 24, for questioning. Hours later, he was booked on suspicion of murder, said Officer Karen Smith of the LAPD's media relations office. Police said that Martinez pulled out a gun during an argument with Rodas, and allegedly shot her in the back of the head.

Rodas was going to be 19 in October. Family members are seeking donations for funeral services.

rest in paradise gaby i will always have u in my mind n heart with the best of memories i cant understand why this guy would do something like this to u n ur family i know for a fact u didnt do this to urself cause as of a good friend of ur sisss that i was i remember those days like if it was yesterday the day before this happened u had dropped of ur lil sis at juvenille hall for her to clean out her record for her warrants were i also was n i remember ur siss telling me she didnt wanna get turned in but since u were taking her she aggredd she told me u told her u will be there for her waiting to get out that she will only do a couple of days n that u would pick her up ....i sittback n think n thank god i pressured rosie to turned herself in i remember yall always beign together n know for a fact things would of turned out real bad or worse if she would of been out when this happened it hurts me that this guy you loved soomuch n had his name tatted a couple of times on ur body didnt touch his heart to do this to u he didnt think of all the pain n hurt he would bring to ur family u were always so happy n ur smile was contagious i will always remember u with the oldies especially darling baybee n searching for my baybee memories will stick with me n us for the rest of our lifes n i also hope that this cold hearted guy one day gets what he deserves when i found out about this i couldnt stop thinking of the bleading heart u had tattoed on ur leg with his name in it for some reason it comes to my mind evertime i think of u ,,,,memories of our days together will allways be in my heart n mind love n respect to u n ur fam n moms rest in peace n to this one cold hearted guy it all comes to an end one day it all comes back u will foreveerr see her named tattoed on ur skin and ask urself why the drugs n ur stupid mind made u loose the most beautiful person ever but i recomend u this go get a taste of ur own medicine n pull the trigger on ur own self para que gabriela descanse en paz r.i.pgaby

Gabriela was such a beautiful young girl, I knew her since she was a few years old and she was adorable. She had the most perfect locks and twinkly eyes just like stars. She was very sweet and charismatic, I wish there was a picture of her here she was so pretty. She always reminded me of a young brunette norma jean before she became marilyn. Im still shocked that such a sweet young girl could be murdered, the person who took this life must be a sadistic, demented, psychotic, lunatic. I heard he is in jail and I hope he stays there for the rest of his life. Gustavo I am so sorry for your loss I know how close you were to your sister. You have always been such a good brother protecting and taking care of your little sisters they are so lucky to have you. I really wish you the best and hope that you find calm and peace. You are such a sweet caring person and I know life will reward you for your kind heart and all your struggles. You deserve happiness and prosperity, good luck to you and your sisters.
