Gabriela Romero-Garcia, 41

Gabriela Romero-Garcia, a 41-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, in the 9100 block of Rosecrans Avenue in Bellflower, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.

About 3:18 p.m., deputies responded to a call of a shooting and arrived to discover Romero-Garcia with at least one gunshot wound, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators said Romero-Garcia and the suspect were married and going through a divorce. Authorities said the man showed up at the home and shot her, then turned the gun on himself.

The couple’s two children, who were 6 and 8 at the time, were present at the time of the shooting but were not injured.

The suspect was identified as Santiago Palacios Salgado, a Latino who was 56 at the time of the crime.

Palacios Salgado was charged with one count of murder with the allegation that he used a gun, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
