Gary Steven Vines, a 26-year-old Black male, died Thursday, July 29, after being shot near Vermont Avenue & West Imperial Hwy in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Gary was a loving and caring person we first met in juvenile hall were not from the same area but know a lot of the same people we started off ass enemies we would see eacother and argue like worst enemies but one day he got enrolled In the continuation we attended called S.E.A North hills valley (2014) and we bonded every since we both had got released and had a kid he had his first daughter and I had my first son we were still communicating after that And was somewhat starting to be in a relationship me and Gary bumped heads because I would hate for him to run the streets because I knew what the life would bring I just didn’t know when he cared for others and put people he cared about before him he loved his girls so much and he cared for his baby moms as well me and Gary grew close over the years he helped care for my 2 children which wasn’t his but we was just tight like that We would go sit at ladera park and just chill and vibe lol that was our date or sit in front of whoever house he’s coming to see me at Gary loved his family dearly and they loved him also his spirit was like no other it caint be replaced Gary had so many different relationships with a lot of people but if u knew him everything was genuine I met him at 14 and we never lost contact since Gary pulled up on me a week prior to him getting Murdered I didn’t wanna go outside and see him because I was so tired but I did anyway I’m so glad I did that was god I’m so sad that he passed I miss and love u Gary your mom loves u your sis loves u and the girls love u I’m so proud of the Man U became u had a son that’s really all u needed to complete u my son was your test baby lol .... things happen so fast it’s crazy I missed your funeral and birthday celebration I hope you’re not mad at me as I write this tears fall down my eyes because I know for a fact you would be right there Gary but I love u and things will never be the same forever my friend #For So god loved us he gave us a real Crip I love you forever Gary Steven Vines ......
