Gene Owen Hardina, a 45-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Dec. 1, in the 700 block of West Raymond Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 11 p.m., Hardina and two other men were on a front porch when a person approached them and began shooting using an assault rifle-type gun, according to a news release from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
Hardina was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:50 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
A 26-year-old man was also struck by gunfire but was listed in stable condition.
The gunman ran eastbound on West Raymond Street and out of view, according to the department.
