George Allen Billups Jr., 52

George Allen Billups Jr., a 52-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, July 6, in the 800 block of West 92nd Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 6:26 p.m., Billups was standing with at least two other people near West 92nd Street and Baring Cross Road when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and someone yelled at him and the others and fired several shots, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sal LaBarbera.

Billups was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. at the scene, said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman.

Billups was not believed to be the intended target, LaBarbera said.

First and foremost R. I. P. George Allen Billups ur truly missed. I cant fathom the mere thought that someone would want to take your life. Know that u will have a place in my heart always. U were like a brother to me. U always admired me and told me how beautiful I was and gave me compliments on my character and how I carried myself. I will never forget u calls me Cynt. Cynt. And tell me how good I look and how proud u were of me. I met u through LaToya Faniel back In 2004. I established a long term friendship of 10 years until your life was stolen by the mean streets of Los Angeles gangs. I pray for justice on your behalf. Your killer or killers will be brought to justice in the mighty name of Jesus. I will miss passing through blowing my horn saying hey George hey Ms. Billups knowing u heard me even if u didn't see me. I will miss giving u rides to the store hanging out at yo house on the porch. The last time I saw u I didn't know it would be my last time seeing u on earth but we will meet again in heaven and we will get a chance to rejoice in heaven. George I'm asking that u hold my hand and be my Guardian Angel watch my back like always have. U were always concerned about my well being even though u knew I could handle most situation. I love u George. As much as I hate needles I will be bearing a tattoo that says R. I. P. George as a token of my love for you big brother.
