Gerald Edward Hamilton, 45

Gerald Edward Hamilton, a 45-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 18, in the 5400 block of South 6th Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 4 a.m., a relative found Hamilton, who had been shot, inside his parked silver sedan near an apartment complex, Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling said.

Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:40 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives interviewed people in the area who said they had heard gunshots shortly after midnight, which is when police think the shooting occurred.

Investigators are looking for any eyewitnesses to the shooting and are still trying to figure out a motive.
