Gerardo Antonio Gonzalez, 39

Gerardo Antonio Gonzalez, a 39-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Aug. 12, in the 600 block of Cedar Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:30 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were called to the area regarding a shooting, according to a news release from the department.

Officers determined that Gonzalez had gotten into an “altercation” prior to the shooting.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:14 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police said the the motive for the shooting is unknown.
