Gerardo Martinez, 20
Gerardo Martinez, a 20-year-old Latino, died Friday, April 28, after he was shot near East 88th Street and South Central Avenue in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 3:25 a.m. on April 27, Martinez was walking in a crosswalk when he heard the footsteps of someone approaching, he told investigators.
A person walked up behind Martinez and shot him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
Martinez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on April 28 at 7:04 p.m.
Police do not yet have any suspect information and are looking for witnesses.
