A story for every victim

Gidget Castro, 28

Gidget Castro, a 28-year-old black woman, was found strangled in an alley in the 4600 block of Washington Boulevard in Commerce on Nov. 26, 1985.

Castro's body was found nude from the waist up. A divorcee and native of Connecticut, she had listed her occupation as a self-employed housewife.

Police said that while Castro had never been arrested on a prostitution charge, information from friends and relatives indicated that she had been involved in prostitution.

In 1987, awaiting trial for four murders in Alabama, Daniel Lee Siebert confessed to killing Castro and another woman, Nisie McElrath, in Los Angeles, offering details authorities said only the killer would know.
