Giovani Lamas, 4
Giovani Lamas, a 4-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Oct. 20, in the 4900 block of West 99th Street in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The child, along with his father, Filimon Lamas, were killed when a neighbor entered their house and began shooting, authorities say.
Giovani was shot in the head and carried from the scene by his mother, who was shot in both legs and her pelvis. His mother and three siblings survived the attack.
Inglewood police say they believe Desmond John Moses, a 55-year-old black man, entered the home and began shooting. They suspect the attack was prompted by several calls the family had made to police to conduct a welfare check on Moses.
Police said Moses then set his home ablaze, and a body believed to be his was found in the charred rubble of the residence.
Inglewood police ask anyone with additional information about the shooting to call homicide detectives at (310) 412-5246. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
