Gregory Menjoe Reed, 38

Gregory Menjoe Reed, a 38-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 17, near East 98th Street and South Avalon Boulevard in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.

About 9 p.m., at least 15 people were gathered in the area to honor a person who had died, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

An argument broke out and shots were fired, striking Reed. Police said it’s unclear if Reed was involved in the argument.

Reed was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:18 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
