Gustavo Rodriguez, 42 [Updated]
Gustavo Rodriguez, a 42-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, after suffering trauma in the 1100 block of Manzanita Street in Silver Lake, authorities said.
Rodriguez was found with a gunshot wound to his head shortly after 7 p.m., according to Los Angeles Police Department officials. A gun was found nearby.
"They are investigating it as a homicide," LAPD Officer Karen Rayner said of detectives.
Though police said they are investigating the incident as a possible homicide, coroner's investigators have deferred the cause of death in the case.
Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said it was possible that Rodriguez's death was a suicide.
No other details were available. Anyone with information is asked to call (877) LAPD 24-7.
[Updated Feb. 28, 2011: Coroner's officials said Rodriguez died from multiple blunt-force injuries, not a gunshot wound.
He suffered trauma after falling out of a moving truck during a robbery.
Rodriguez's death was ruled an accident.]
