Harvey Dobbins, 40 [Updated]

Harvey Dobbins, a 40-year-old black man, died Saturday, April 2, in the 1700 block of East Century Boulevard in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Dobbins was found on the street with possible stab wounds. Authorities were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene about 3 a.m.

Although Dobbins’ death was initially deemed a homicide, a cause of death has been deferred and a final determination will not be available for at least six to eight weeks, Winter said.

[Update Jan. 12, 2012: According to coroner's records, Dobbins died from several factors including atherosclerotic heart disease, cocaine use and multiple sharp force injuries. His death was ruled a homicide.]
