Heather Nicole Broadus, 27
Heather Broadus, a 27-year-old black woman, was found dead Monday, Aug. 30, in the 300 block of East 56th Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
A passerby found Broadus' body about 6:30 a.m. and called 911, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.
The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and discovered Broadus lying in a parkway. She had been shot more than once in the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Based on preliminary information, police believe Broadus was shot at some point the previous night.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
