A story for every victim

Hilario Salazar, 25

Hilario Salazar, a 25-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, May 30, in the 600 block of South Ford Boulevard in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Salazar was home with his family about 9:55 p.m when two men came to the door, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.

According to witnesses, Salazar spoke to the men through a security door. “There was some kind of discussion about money,” Mendoza said, and that’s when multiple shots were fired.

One of the rounds struck Salazar in the upper torso, Mendoza said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:07 p.m., according to coroner’s records. No one else in the home was injured.

The attackers, described only as Latino adults, were last seen running on the sidewalk, heading north on Ford Boulevard, Mendoza said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
