Jacob Neftali Sosa, 37

Jacob Neftali Sosa, a 37-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, April 20, in the 3800 block of Cosbey Street in Baldwin Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:19 p.m., police responded to a call of shots fired in front of a two-story home and found a wounded Sosa on the front lawn, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Sosa was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:46 p.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.

Witnesses told police that two Latinos were seen running from Cosbey Street to Earl Avenue toward Ramona Boulevard, a major street in the area.

Several people were detained at the home but no arrests have yet been made.
