Jaime Albert Ruiz, 36

Jaime Albert Ruiz, a 36-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Nov. 22, in the 1500 block of Magnolia Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

About 10:55 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area and found Ruiz with wounds to his upper body, according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department.

Ruiz was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Investigators believe that Ruiz and two others were outside a home when a man approached them, police said.

A “verbal exchange” occurred, and the man began shooting at Ruiz and the two people he was with. The two others were uninjured.
