Jairo Rolando Recinos-Almanza, 21

Jairo Rolando Recinos-Almanza, a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, July 29, near North State and Bailey streets in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Shortly before 10 p.m., Recinos-Almanza was driving a beige pickup east on Bailey Street when a person driving in the opposite direction began shooting at him, Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez said.

Authorities don't know whether the shooter was a passenger or the driver of the other vehicle, Ramirez said.

Recinos-Almanza was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:10 p.m., according to coroner's records.

He was found by officers inside the truck in the middle of the street. The gunman's vehicle continued west on Bailey Street.
