James Cheyenne Boyston, 21
James Cheyenne Boyston, a 21-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Aug. 4, in the 4000 block of Muirfield Road South in Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Boyston was standing in the back alley of an apartment complex when he was shot, LAPD Officer Chris Courtney said. Police responded to a call of gunshots in the area and found Boyston, Courtney said.
Investigators are unsure whether a person shot Boyston from a car or on foot, Courtney said.
Boyston, of Gardena, was pronounced dead at 9:09 p.m. in the alley, according to coroner’s records.
